Busselton Beach where the Ring was Lost
My search for the Lost Ring in Busselton was unsuccesful, I spent 5 hours both in the water and on the beach looking for the ring, I cannot understand why I could not find it, because Boris knew exactly where the ring was lost, the area where the ring was lost in a beach which is very shallow. You can walk 20 metres into the water and still the water is only up to your waist.
The beach does not have any waves, there is not rocks around the beach, it is just pure white sand.
There are three possibilities about the location of this ring. Firstly someone else has already found the ring, the beach is frequented by quite a few people walking along the beach, people walking dogs and people swimming.
Secondly Tropical Cyclone Bianca caused very windy weather on the night that Boris lost his ring, so there is a chance that the ring could have been taken into deeper water.
Thirdly, about a metre from where the ring was lost are small wooden pylons (see image to left), there is a good chance that the ring is lodged somewhere on these pylons… mind you I dug alot of sand from around each pylon, hoping I might dig out the ring, but no luck. The reason I dug the sand away was because these pylons have large steel bolts lodged in them, and I could not move my metal detector anywhere near them without getting interferance.
I believe that scenario one and three are likely.
I am so sorry that I could not find this ring, unfortunately not all of my lost ring searches are successful.
How much do I charge to find your lost jewellery, money, rings etc?
I charge nothing at all to search for your lost item, but my services is based on a reward only if found basis that is, if I find your lost ring, jewellery etc, then it is up to you what you’d like to give me as a reward.
A small fuel surcharge may be required depending on the distance I need to travel.
If I don’t find your lost item, then I don’t expect anything.
I do not hire out my metal detectors.
I love my job!

Beautiful Silver and Pearl Earring - Beach Metal Detecting Find
Click on the photos to bet a better quality image
Once again I found another nice Silver Ring whilst metal detecting on a Beach in Perth.
Looks like it had been in the water for some time due to the discoloration of the ring, I did not find it in the water, but just on the wet sand where the waves were washing onto the shore. I did not spend much time on the beach, it only took me a few minutes to find it, but if I had more time, I am pretty sure I would have found more rings and jewellery, because the water was so calm, and there were good sand washouts where the tide had been, and thats the spots I have had alot of luck find rings whilst metal detecting on beaches.
Anyhow, it’s always great to find a nice ring, I also found around $10 in loose coins.
Can’t wait to hit the beaches again, probably this week, if all works out well!

Sorrento Beach Metal Detecting Finds
I was in Perth the other day and decided to hit the beach for a few hours of metal detecting. The night before a big storm front came through so I knew I would have a good chance of finding some jewellery and coins.
I decided to go to Sorrento Beach, because I had been there before doing a search for a guys lost wedding ring, but unfortunately could not find it, so I go back to the beach, hoping I still may find it by some miraculous chance.
Anyhow, I found plenty of coins and a few pieces of jewellery including a small silver toe ring.

One thing for certain, if you are going to buy a Metal Detector with the aim of going coin or ring shooting on the beach sand or in the water, you will definitely need to invest in a good Metal Detecting Sand Beach Scoop
Having a Beach or Sand Scoop is going to save you alot of time when searching for a found target, there is nothing worse than finding something in the sand, you don’t have a scoop and then you have to try and find it with your bare hands.
You might have a shovel, but then you have to dig and flick away the sand.
Not only can digging around in the sand with your exposed hands bring you potential harm, but your hands and fingers will get sore.
When it comes to harming yourself, such examples are as follows:
- Possible Used Dirty Syringe Prick (I hate to bring that up, I have never encountered a Syringe on the beach, but you just never know, and please don’t let that turn you off metal detecting!
- Possible cuts from broken glass, rusty nails, fishing hooks, rusty metal, pieces of wire, alumin cans
- Sharp shells
- Poisonous animals, such as dead jelly fish, dead poisonous fish with spikes, and even dead stingrays (poisonous barbs)
- And much more
I will admit some of the above examples would unlikely happen, but you just never know, however I have cut my fingers a few times from glass and shells, nothing major, just little nicks. But when Metal Detecting, you have to expect a few cuts, bruises and blisters every now and then.
There is another good tool besides the Sand Scoop, and that is just a simple Plastic Garden Sieve which I sometimes use. Read my story on Metal Detecting Sieves.
But buying a good sand scoop was a great investment for my metal detecting adventures and jobs. With my Sand Scoop, 90% of the first scoop will result in me finding the detected target straight away.
Some Scoops are heavy and some are light, my Sunspot Scoop is quite heavy and it takes some getting used to when carrying the scoop in one hand and in my other hand swinging my Metal Detector
and I will admit carrying both can get quite tiring, but I suppose thats just one small disadvantage that comes with the hobby. So don’t let that deter you, but you really need to find a scoop that will suit your needs.
I would not recommend you go investing in a heavy long handled scoop when it may be for a small child or a person who is not physically strong.
So my best advice is to shop around and do a bit of research.
There are some inexpensive sand scoops and sand expensive sand scoops on the market, and if you want to save yourself money and your a handy person, then just make one yourself.
Some Hand Held Beach Scoops

Krylar Steel Sand Scoop

Compact Beach Scoop (I also use this Scoop)

Galvanised Sand Scoop

Kellyco Plastic Scoop
Some Long Handled Sand and Beach Scoops

Stealth Sun Spot Scoop (I use this one)

The Beach Master 16 Inche Scoop

Long Handled Sand Scoop
There are plenty of places to find these Scoops as follows:
Ebay Australia
Ebay England
Ebay USA
Kelly Co Detectors (USA)
Detector Depot (USA)
Stealth Gold Scoop (USA) What I use

Beneath the Horseshoe lays hidden Treasure!
If you notice in the photo I have attached, you will notice the shape of the beach area where I am, I call it a Horseshoe, because it is kind of shaped that way, no other way for me to explain it really.
But in that area where I am detecting with my Minelab E-Trac, I found heaps of coins, rings, both Silver and Gold, even a ring with a nice stone in it.
I have found that these horseshoes seem to be magnets for coins, rings and jewellery.
Believe it or not the next day I went down the beach, the Horseshoe had gone, because of the erratic tidal and water movements and obviously along with the horseshoe, most of the other coins and rings had left with it to another area of the beach.
So if you like beach detecting, keep an eye out for those Horseshoes, you might found yourself some treasure!

I found all of these Coins and Rings in around 4 hours of Beach Hunting. The Watch not included, thats Mine!
Believe it or not .. all in a 10 Square Metre Area.
I’ll give you a Tip!
Watch for areas of beach sand which have been washed away by the tide, kind of shaped like a Horseshoe, thats where the tide washes all the rings, watches, coins and Jewellery in one little area.
Most of the stuff in the photos have been washing around the shallow beach areas for decades, amongst the coins are a Silver Sixpence dating back to the 1950’s so obviously that had been in the water for at least 4 decades! – 40 Years!

One Days Treasure Trove!

Not bad for 4 hours easy work!
