Successful Recovery – Lost Engagement Ring Found!

I got a call a few days ago from a girl desperate for help to find her Engagement Ring she lost playing Volleyball with her husband in their backyard pool.

She actually lost both her Wedding Ring and her Engagement Ring, and succesfully found her wedding ring after a quick search, but no luck finding her engagement ring.

What had happened was that as she hit the volleyball using an upper swing motion, both her rings had come offer her wedding ring finger. Obviously being in the water, her fingers had shrunk a little and this loosened her rings.

She hired a Metal Detector, but had no luck, so in desperation she turned to me to help her find it.

So yesterday I went to her place, and started a search with my metal detector. It was very hot, around 35 degrees celcius, once a started I got a few readings which I though may have bought me some luck.

Unfortunately they were just false readings, due to the amount of metal around her yard, such as copper pipes, underground electrical wires from the swimming pool pump, and various other pieces of usual metal bits which were on the surface on her garden bed, such as pulltabs, beer bottle tops, pieces of wire etc.

Also she had a vine type plant which was spread across most of her garden next to her swimming pool, and that was really quite hard to search through after potential signals were heard via my Koss metal detecting headphones.

I used both my metal detectors, My Minelab Excallibur, even though this is used really for Beach and Water detecting, the sand here is basically Beach Sand which is millions of years old, the other detector I used was my Minelab E-Trac.

After about two hours I was beginning to lose hope that I would not find it, also due to the fact that her lost ring may have gone over her neighbours fence due to the force of her hand hitting the volleyball. I even climbed up on her roof, just in case her ring went flying high and landed on top of her house roof.

She also had a few little kids, and I was thinking maybe one of her little kids may have picked it up and misplaced it.

I climbed up and the roof was so hot, you could have cooked an egg on there it was that hot!

Anyhow, I climbed down, did another search in her garden and finally got a good clear reading and much to her delight I found her Lost Engagegemt Ring! It was near her fence and just below the surface of the sandy soil.

She was so happy, I gave her a big hug, because I was also very happy that I helped find her lost engagement ring and put that lost smile back on her face!

I will soon put a photo of her on the site along with the photo of her lost engagement ring I successfully found with my metal detector.

So many things come to mind when I am searching for peoples lost jewelry, rings, watches, wedding bands etc. But the main thing is you just want to find it and make that person happy again.

Losing something, such as a ring, bracelet, watch etc is awful, you get that awful feeling in the pit of your stomach, no different that losing a loved one or a pet, and knowing that you may never see it again is just plain horrible.
