Another Lake Lost Rings Search – Lost 25 Years Ago!

A few weeks ago I mentioned to one of my old mates Stewie, about my metal detecting hire services, and was telling him some stories about how I help people find their lost wedding rings, jewellery, money and all the other things that I find with my Minelab Metal Detectors and he his face lit up.

I asked him what was he smiling about, and he told me that around 25 years ago, he was water skiing close to the shores of Lake Dumbleyung on a hot summers day. Being a novice water skiier, he fell off after hitting some wave wash.

To cut a long story short, he told me he and his newly wed wife Tina, were out at the lake with friends, and she was wearing both her wedding ring and engagement ring, and she knew there could be a risk of losing them in the water.

So she took them off and gave them to Stewie for safe keeping, and Stewie stupidly put them in the pocket of his shorts, thinking that they would be safe.

Anyhow Stewie forgot all about the rings in his pocket, and probably had a few beers too many and decided it was time for a ski on the water.

Yep, you guessed it, Stewie jumps in the water, puts some skiis on, falls off straight away, has another go, then gets back into the boat. On return to the ski club, Tina asks for her wedding and engagement rings, and Stewie pats his pockets telling her the rings are safe and sound, and then he feels nothing in his pockets.

It hit Stewie that he has obviously lost the rings in the Lake where he fell off, Tina is absolutely furious and now 25 years later, Tina is still furious with Stewie and I have eased the tension by telling them both that maybe I can find them with my metal detectors.

This search will be a hard search, Lake Dumbleyung is huge, but Stewie has a good idea still to this day where he believes the rings fell out of his pocket.

So soon when the weather cools off a bit I will be heading out to the Lake to hopefull reunite Stewie and Tina with the lost rings.

Currently Lake Dumbleyung is bone dry, and it is Summer weather here in Western Australia, so I am waiting for a cool day, because when detecting on the Lake on a hot day, the white salt reflects all the heat onto my body, so it is like an oven and the flies are really bad.

This Wedsneday it is going to be 42 degrees celcius, way to hot to Metal Detect!

I’ll keep you updated, and if I find them, I will believe that miracles do happen!

I have previously found rings at Lake Dumbleyung, so you just never know.

Wedding and Engagement Rings Lost 80 Years Ago – Will I Find Them?

Unfortunately over the last few weeks, I have been unable to head out on any metal detecting jobs as I have just bought a new business, a Post Office / News Agency in the Great Southern town of Dumbleyung.

So I have been working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week, trying to get into the routine of my new business venture with my girlfriend Natalie.

So now my metal detecting hours and jobs are very restricted, to the weekends only.

Anyhow having my new business has enabled me to find some interesting future metal detecting hunts.

Today I was talking to a lady who informed me that her Grand Mother, lost both her Engagement Ring and Wedding Ring on the same day at a local lake, not Lake Dumbleyung, but another Lake near the town.

Believe it or not, her Grand Mother lost her Wedding and Engagement Rings at the Lake around 80 years ago when she was in her early 20’s.

Apparently her Gandmother, lost these rings on the shore of the lake at a picnic gathering.

WOW! What a story that would make! Her Grandmother has since passed away, but it would be such a great story, to reunite her Grand Daughter with these lost rings.

This has given me a huge buzz of excitement, as I know for a fact that this Lake has never been metal detected, and there would be a great chance of finding other lost momentos, such as jewellery, coins and much more.

So this weekend, I am going to ride my Polaris 6 Wheeler out to this Lake, and do a thorough search of the Lake to see if I can find these rings which were lost in the 1920’s.

I am pretty excited about this metal detecting ring search.

Do you think I will find them? Stay Tuned!

Gold and Rubies

Beautiful Gold Ring with Nine Rubies

The other day when I was searching and beach metal detecting for a clients lost Silver St Christophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And a Silver Ring at Scarborough Beach I found plenty of coins, but also a beautiful Gold and Ruby Ring which must have been lost recently, most likely by a overseas tourist as the Beach is right opposite the 5 Star Observation City Hotel.

Unfortunately I did not find my clients lost jewellery, but was very happy to find this beautiful Gold Ring with Nine Rubies on it.

Happy to reunite this ring with its original owner, but the person must be able to identify some of its unique characteristics.

Metal Detecting Honesty

A few days ago I wrote how I received a phonecall from Katie who lost her Silver St Christophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And a Silver Ring at Scarborough Beach near Perth Western Australia.

I did a 3 to 4 hour search of the area where she had lost the ring, but could not find it. So that night I asked on my blog if anyone who maybe had previously metal detected the area may have already found it to contact me.

Well yesterday I got a phone call from a friend Dick who told me his friend may just have found Katies lost jewellery which is fantastic news.

He informed me his friend found a Silver St Christophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And a Silver Ring on Scarborough Beach the day Katie lost it.

I told Katie of this great news, and now she has to wait a couple of weeks to be reunited with her lost jewellery as the metal detector guy is away working up North, so that is great news for Katie and for my blog that someone out there has the decency to return Katies treasured jewellery.

Who ever it is who found, a big thank you for me! Your honesty is beyond words.

Lost Scarborough Beach – Silver St Christophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And Silver Ring

Lost Scarborough Beach – Silver Saint Chirstophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And Silver Ring

If you are a metal detectorist and maybe you have found a Silver St Christophers Pendant, Silver Necklaces And Silver Ring?

I did a search of Scarbourough Beach last night to help Katie find these items.

The St Pendant and Necklace is of huge sentimental value to herself, it was recently given to her by her father, who just underwent major spinal surgery.

Katie was obviously very upset, she is new to Perth, from New Zealand. She told me the other day she accidently broke a mirror, and told me she is not superstitious, but now she is having second thoughts.

Katie was surfing down at Scarbourough Beach on Monday 8th December and removed her silver chains, pendant and silver ring and placed them on her towel whilst surfing, when she returned, she forgot about them, lifted her towel and dried herself and then went home.

An hour or so later she realised what she had done, and went back to the beach to do a frantic search … no luck.

She contact me, and last night I spent around 4 hours looking for the lost jewellery, unfortunately I had no luck.

So we are hoping that maybe someone may have found it, an honest person who could please maybe return these to Katie who is quite devastated.

I told Katie maybe a Perth Metal Detectorist may have found them, as I no other metal detecting guys frequent the beach on a daily basis.

So please if you have found it, please get in touch with me

Metal Detecting Perth’s Swan River

18 CT Ladies Gold and Diamond Ring - Water Find

18 CT Ladies Gold and Diamond Ring - Swan River Metal Detecting Find

Recently I have not had much time to do any metal detecting, as my partner and I have just bought a Post Office and News Agency in my rural town in the Great Southern of Western Australia, Dumbleyung. We have been very busy doing some training courses in Perth.

Swan River Metal Detecting Finds

But last week I found the time whilst I was in Perth to head down to the Swan River for a few hours to do a bit of treasure hunting on the sandy banks of the Swan River.

Mens Silver Ring as I found it

Mens Silver Ring as I found it

I decided to find a new metal detecting spot, so I had a look through my Street Directory and I found a nice little spot where there would be a good chance to find some rings, relics  and coins, an area which has been well used by people for the last 100 years or more.

I have uploaded photos of what I found that day and evening, and also before and after photos after I have cleaned my finds, such as the Silver Ring above and below.

The place when I went metal detecting, was Clarkson Reserve on the Maylands Foreshore.

When I was there, I met a curious lady who asked me what I was doing. Her name was Jenny Seaton, a media, radio and television personality who currently has her own program on Curtin FM a radio station broadcasting in the metropolitan area of Perth, Western Australia.

So today she is going to interview me on the radio, so thats a bit exciting and a first for me.

I told Jenny I would post photos of the items I found that night for her listeners to look at.

I found some great items, especially the Ladies 18ct Gold and Diamond Ring, which I found in about 3 foot of water. And also the Mens Silver Wave Ring which was in about the same depth.

So here is what I found on the evening I met Jenny on the Swan.

Buried Money and a Lost Diamond and Gold Earring

Next Metal Detecting Mission - to find buried stash of money!

Next Metal Detecting Mission - to find buried stash of money!

The title says it all!

I am heading up to Perth on Thursday to do a couple of Metal Detecting searches for two clients.

Client One informs me that they have buried a stash of money wrapped in foil and enclosed in a jar sealed with a metal lid, thats gotta be one of the strangest phonecalls I have had to date. I asked a few questions, and wondered why the money was buried, but that’s their business and not mine.

I have been told, that all up three jars were buried, two have been successfully recovered by the owner and the person is unable to find the third jar that they have buried. It could be a hard job, as I have been told that the jars were buried in three foot of soil, so I am hoping my Minelab Metal Detectors will get a signal. I have been informed the person has already done a fair bit of digging around, so that could make the mission …. impossible! Of course I am hoping to find the hidden cache, because I have been promised anywhere between $250 and $500 for a reward to find the buried treasure of cold hard cash! I’ll keep you informed.

You’d be surprised the amount of people who bury money!

 People hide their money!
Since the beginning of time and still to this day people have hidden their valuables for safekeeping’s. If you ask yourself why… Here are a few reasons.

War Time
War time has caused many people throughout history to rush and hide their most valuable possessions (Gold, Silver, Cash, Jewellery & Paintings) in their homes and on their property, for safe keeping. After the war some were able to recover their valuables, many were not as fortunate.

Banks or financial institutions
Many individuals who grew up during the depression are hiding their money. They fear they may experience what their family went through before them. So they hide money as a way to feel secure. And obviously many people do not trust banks, so they hide or bury their lifesavings.

 Sickness
Unfortunatelty, Dementia and Alzheimers Disease affects many people, and obviously this can make people do strange things, such as burying their money and valuables in the backyard. Same goes for people who suffer from gambling problems.

Save it for A Rainy Day

People also hide their money for that rainy day, they think that one day when I retire or get sick, I’ll be okay, because I have this money hidden away … then what happens? BANG … they die suddenly, and no one knows about their hidden stash.

We’ve all hidden our money

Let’s face it, we all hide our money, and most of us, including myself have hidden our money and even forgotten that we’ve hidden our money, then maybe a year or three down the track, we are reading one of our old books, and all of a sudden we turn a page, and there is a couple hundred dollars sitting in between the pages, and we remember … “that’s were I hid it!”

If you feel a close relative may have buried their money, lifesavings, jewels, contact me and I may be able to help you recover it!

Client two, a husband of a lady informs me, his wife who has lost her diamond and gold studded earring, whilst walking on a path in one of the metro suburbs of Perth. So far I have done three metal detecting hire jobs in Perth for lost earrings and I have yet to have any luck on retrieving them. Lost earrings are very hard to find with a metal detector, but I have found earrings on beaches before. So if you have lost a valued piece of jewellery, such as a ring, watch or bracelet, even buried money or jewels and you are thinking of hiring a metal detector to find it, call me first and I’ll be happy to help!

Remember, I don’t charge by the hour, I do my metal detecting hire service based on a reward only if I find your lost item, if I don’t find it, well you don’t have to give me anything!

Thanks for reading my post!

I love my job!

Wedding Ring Lost at Highspeed!

Tonight I got a phone call from Bricky, who told me he needs my help to search for his wedding ring, which he happened to lose as he hung his arm out of the car passenger window with the car moving at 110 kmph.   Bricky is actually a member of my Beaut Utes Website and he remembered that I help people find Lost Rings and Jewellery with my Perth and Western Australian Metal Detector Service.

I have never done a search for a ring which has been lost from a moving car before, so it is going to be an interesting and exciting  job for me to carry out, but I am feeling pretty confident.

My Candadian Metal Detecting friend Chris Turner who runs Vancouver Metal Detector Rentals has done quite a few jobs of a similar nature, so I have emailed him for some tips.

One tip I remember Chris telling me which I will do is to get Bricky to drive his car past me and the spot where he lost his ring, driving the same speed as when he lost his ring, and then throw out one of my el-cheapo stainless steel rings out of the ring, with some fishing line and a marker attached and see where that ring lands.

That way it could give me a rough idea on where his gold wedding band has landed. I know Chris Turner has done this experiment before and it has proved quite successful.

I’ll keep you all informed on if we have any luck, I hope to do this job within a few days.

Thanks for reading my post!

I love my job!

Have You Lost Your Precious Jewellery in Western Australia?

At work - Metal Detecting - Scarborough Beach

At work - Metal Detecting - Scarborough Beach - Perth - Western Australia

I specialise in helping people find their Lost Treasures, such as rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces etc , many people lose their precious jewellery whilst swimming in rivers, dams, the beach, lakes and also whilst gardening or working out doors.

I was talking to a friend the other day and he referred to the ocean as the worlds biggest Bank.

Everyday millions of pieces of jewellery and coinage are lost out of the pockets of people, valuable rings and bracelets slip off peoples fingers and wrists, beautiful necklaces are washed off people when they dive through waves or maybe like what happened to me once, got dumped by a big wave and I lost my watch!

On a good day last year, I found myself $250 in coins and 11 nice rings on a beach and that was not even during the summer months!

I know of some Western Australian Metal Detecting Treasure Hunters finding rings worth over $50,000 on Perth beaches, a good rumour even has it that on the day of Heath Ledger’s funeral “Surf Wake” at Cottesloe Beach, all of his friends created a circle of Surfboards in the water at Cottesloe Beach, one apparent “movie star” lost a valuable Diamond Encrusted Gold Ring for many many thousands of dollars, and to my knowledge that ring has never been found, and is most likely in the water or laying under the beach sand, waiting for someone to find it.

It is now a few days into the Year 2009 and already I have been busy answering phone calls from people who have lost rings and bracelets most of which have been Christmas Presents which they have lost whilst swimming or sunbathing at the beach.

So if you are anywhere in Western Australia, including Perth and surrounding suburbs and have lost something whether it be swimming, gardening, working, running .. what ever I can help you find your Lost Treasure, examples such as finding your Lost Gold, Silver or Platinum Wedding Rings, lost Bracelets, Necklaces, or any other piece of which may be of great sentimental value to you.

I can help you find anything really, but obviously it has to be metal! I can even help families who may have elderly parents, grand parents, relatives who sadly have Alzheimers Disease which can cause elderly people to do strange things, such as burying their life savings in their back yard…. yes this really does happen.

You’d be amazed on the amount of elderly people who do this or even normal people do it and they die suddenly without retrieving their buried treasure.

So thats another good word of advice, if you are sellling a deceased estate, or moving from your house to a new location it is very wise to get someone like me to do a good metal detecting search of the back yard for any buried treasure, the deceased or partner, or family member may have buried.

I’m sure alot of us have buried our little pieces of treasure before … I certainly did when I was a kid in my backyard … for me it was not really treasure or valuables, but it was Love Letters from an old childhood sweetheart I had.

I am also available to help Police, Crime and Investigation services to find weapons of crime, such as knives, hand guns, rifles, murder weapons and so forth, which may help in the process to quickly solve crimes and catch wanted offenders.

Recovery of your lost jewellery will depend on the following points listed below…

What I need to know:

1. Weather Conditions – especially wind and stormy weather conditions.

2. Water and Tidal Movements

3. Depth of water you lost your jewellery in. I only shallow detect to around 2m

4.  Whether you keep your lost jewellery a secret and not blurt it out to passing or curious people.

5. Do you know the exact or approximate place you lost your Ring or Jewellery piece?

6. The sooner you let me know, the quicker we may be able to find it.

7. There are other things also which I may need to ask you.

Your cost for this service?

My Professional Lost Jewellery Recovery Service is based a “Reward Only Service”  what the item is worth to you and what you would offer as a ”Reward” to have it found.

However I must cover my fuel expense to make it out to you, regardless if its found or not. I will provide a Two Fuel Receipts when I meet you, the first will be from when I left my home, and the second will be when I fill my vehicle up at the search destination.

Depending on the destination I leave from, the cost of my travel could vary, but as an example it could be anywhere between $100 and $150 on average for me to come to you and to return to my destination which is located 300km South East of Perth.

But don’t let that turn you off, I am 3 hours away, and that is not that far … but if your lucky I may already be in the Metro area or where ever you live!

I have decided to start this website so I can catalogue all of my finds on the internet for myself, friends, and visitors to see what I find on my adventures through out parts of Western Australia on my Treasure Hunting trips. I also started this Treasure Hunting site, so I can help others find their precious lost jewellery.

I will  help find your precious jewellery including rings, watches, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, toerings, house keys and even valuable coins and treasure your grandparents or parents may have buried in the backyard for safe keeping.I have decided to start this website so I can catalogue all of my finds on the internet for myself, friends, and visitors to see what I find on my adventures through out parts of Western Australia on my Treasure Hunting trips.
