Preview – Silver Nazi Swastika Found Metal Detecting in 100 Year Old Western Australian Rubbish Dump

I found this beautiful Silver Swastika in my local rubbish dump the other day metal detecting… well actually I pulled out a weed clump and there it was right beneath my eyes… I have tumbled it and has come up really nice.

I dont think this swastika is original Nazi related, but it could be related to either German POWs who were relocated to this area, German Migrants, maybe a member of the Australian Nazi Party, or maybe someone who was just bored… but it is 100% silver and a beautiful find and highly unusual to find a Silver Swastika in an Australian Rubbish dump.

The dump I metal detect in dates back to around 1910… every time I go out there I always find something nice, or numerous nice finds.

I think quite possibly this swastika could either be german trenchart, as it looks home made, it has got an engraving on it also… just a unusualy pattern.

Or maybe a WW2 Australian POW bought it home as a momento of the War, who knows maybe it was retrieved a German Soldier Killed in Action.

Also been finds many hundreds of good finds of late and hundreds of nice bottles as well as nice old relics, dolls heads, beautiful marbles, pottery, military badges old Police Buttons and hundreds more nice items…. and nice old brass horse cart number plates, worth $150 to $200 ear and lots of K9 dog registration tags and so much more beautiful items dating back a hundred years plus.

I still metal detect and dig for bottles on a daily basis after all my chores have been done.

I will upload a video on my new truck and trailer soon.

Thanks so much for everyone who donated to me for my Indiegogo Campaign… all money will be refunded soon… I appreciate everyones kindness and it will not be forgotten.

Still in my house, hoping to save it still by some miracle. Or by accessing my Superannuation Fund / 401 K Retirement Fund.

My ebay sales over the last 8 weeks total to nearly $8000, 95% of which are Picking finds, some metal detecting finds and other personal items, i will do a video on that soon.

I hope to officially get back on youtube soon, as I still do videos most days, but just too busy and not motivated to upload them and ebay is my main priority right now.

As I always say I will reply to everyones comments soon.

Thanks everyone… I’ll be back soon when I am ready to do so.

Metal Detecting a WW1 Military Cross Winner’s 10th Light Horse Collar Badge – Gallipoli and Boer War Veteran

Today I was inspired to go Metal Detecting after watching YouTuber “StealthDiggers” finding an extremely rare George Washington Mourning Urn Cuff Link…. he originally found the first collar cuff a while back, and was inspired to go looking for the other matching cufflink.

in 2012 I actually found the first 10th Light Horse Collar Badge which belonged to a WW1 Veteran who was in the 10th Light Horse… one of Australia’s most famous Army Units, having fought extremely tough battles in South Africa in the Boer War in the 1890’s as well as WW1 at Beersheba, Egypt, Gallipoli, Turkey and other famous battles.

So today I was inspired to go looking for the other matching uniform badge, and not having much confidence in doing so I went metal detecting for it anyhow.
The owner of this collar badge was a veteran of the South African Boer War in the 1890’s and also a veteran of Gallipoli in WW1.

In 2012 I found the first 10th Light Horse Collar Badge using my Minelab E-Trac, however today I found the other matching badge using my Garrett AT Pro.

Here is todays video of the amazing yet again, another once in a lifetime find

His name is Arthur Thompson, and he was awarded the Military Cross for Gallantry and Bravery whilst in Battle … see a photo of Arthur actually wearing his uniform with quite possibly the actual 10th Light Horse Collar Badges I found on his uniform…. see here:

He also served alongside Breaker Morant, one of Australia’s most famous soldiers in the South African Boer War… Breaker Morant was actually charged with Treason by the British Army and he was executed by the British Army in South Africa in 1902.

Many Australians have protested that Breaker Morant should be pardoned, however he has not yet been pardoned.

Breaker Morant was a hero.

See my other videos when I found the First Collar Badge back in 2012

Finding this collar badge today adds to my favourite finds, the adrenalin rush was awesome, and I would never sell these WW1 Collar Badges from the Uniforms of the 10th Light Horse.

Hi Everyone… here is a email I have been sending to Tennessee News Outlets over the last few days:… dont forget, add to favourites, share, forward email … thank you everyone.

Dear Sir, Ma’am,

Could you please consider submitting this email / story and my video on your blog?

I am writing this to you because I am desperately trying to reunite an American Soldiers Helmet from the Vietnam War that I have had in my possession since I was around 6 years old…. over 35 Years and I would love to be able to return this Helmet to the owner or his family.

My Aunt bought me this Helmet from an Army Disposal Store in Perth Western Australia

My Father was an Australian Vietnam Veteran as well and I too served in the Australian Defence Force for 15 years.

The Helmet has the following “faint” markings
“Name could be “Daily” “Dafley” “Danny”
“Tennessee Terror”
“Danang 69 – 70”
“Common Peace Symbol ☮”
“An Arrow underneath the “Tennessee Terror” with three strikes at the end, and other markings to faint to see under normal light.”
“A Date Marking: 7th April 1969″

It also has ” Tally Marks” //// as in the 5 four slashes and another slash \

Just looking at the helmet and on top of the helmet is has writing what looks to say “Bomb Dump” underneath that it has the date 7th April 69 … but it could actually be 27th April 69

I just did a google search for “Bomb Dump Da Nang” and and found an article on this explosion.

A video is here as well on the Da Nang Bomb Dump Explosion

youtube.com/watch?v=MKYPtzUPI6c

And it happened on the 27th April 69 so maybe the 7th April should be the 27th April as there is something before the 7th

The soldiers name is very faint … it could be Danny, Daitly Daily, Datley or even something completely different… maybe under infrared or some other scientific means it could be identified correctly.

I have looked on the internet and memorial walls, but I have had no luck, maybe you can help me

I have a youtube video here of the Helmet

I have searched all of the memorials and so forth and no luck… who knows the soldier could have even relocated to Australia after the war… in any case I have sent many emails to Tennessee Newspapers, media outlets and so forth… you never know, miracles do happen… and surely someone out there would have a photo of the soldier wearing his helmet, side profile shots, front shots and so forth.

Hopefully if it goes on a news video it will trigger someones memory… especially the nickname the Tennesee Terror would surely trigger a Veterans Memory of this Soldier.

Even if the Soldier died, it would be such a beautiful feeling to reunite this helmet with his family.. I could just imagine it sitting somewhere with the American Flag folded next to it…. I almost want to cry thinking of it.

As a small kid my mates and I would play war games, I’d be wearing this helmet… it has had a good life, and has been to many places and adventures with me… but even since I had this helmet I always wondered who owned it… and it would be the honour of a lifetime to reunite it.

I even have the original Camouflage Clothe lining which would go over the top of the helmet

Yours Sincerely

William
